Here at Economic Forces, we like to write about externalities. One reason that I like to write about externalities is that I think we often miss important aspects of externalities in our standard textbook examples. Even what seems like a simple example isn’t always that simple.
I thought vaccinations weren't particularly sterilizing so preventing spread wasn't actually panning out as hoped, especially after four (?) months or so after the shot? I may be remembering or misinterpreting the research though.
If that's true, it seems to change the externality discussion pretty significantly, even without getting into least-cost avoidance.
How disappointing. After Covid pandemics, and no one has considered these considerations. Too sad.
